Dr. Vaneesa Cook received her PhD in US history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015, and has taught a variety of history courses at UW-Whitewater, Queen’s University (Ontario), and UW-Madison. In Spring 2020, she taught HIS 428, the Military Experience, at UW-Madison. She is teaching Missing in Action Historical Research in Spring 2022.

Her research and writing interests include political history, religious history, diplomatic history, foreign policy, and military history. She is involved in public relations and helps oversee the historical and archival research volunteer staff for the UW MIA-RIP. During the pandemic, Vaneesa also conceptualized and implemented the team’s “Soldiers on Screen” film webinar series.
